Philanthropy Starts at an Early Age

11-year-old Gracie

As the daughter of an IIM board member, 11-year-old Gracie spends time at the Institute and sees first-hand the families that come through our doors.  Thinking of a way to help, Gracie went through her room and packed up books and toys she no longer needed and brought them to the Institute for the New American families! She has done multiple drop-offs and has provided hours of learning and play for many of the children who come through our building.

Recently, some of Gracie’s toys went to a newly arrived Afghani family.  The children came without toys and were so happy to receive some from Gracie. The two-month-old baby even fit in the doll bassinet, which was a big help as the crib had not yeFamilywithToyst arrived.

The Institute welcomes donations of household items to help refugees establish a home in their new country. Thanks to Gracie, all members of the family can find treasures to help with their strong start to a new life.
