About This Position
The Nursing Assistant Training program has successfully prepared over 3,000 new Americans to pass the Nursing Assistant Certification exam and secure employment in healthcare. We offer 7- and 11-week programs focused on training Nursing Assistants for roles in various care settings, including long-term care and hospitals. This position involves supporting the instruction of human body systems and senior care, providing student support services like tutoring, and assisting with administrative tasks to ensure compliance with state grants. The support instruction is online and taught synchronously through zoom, while the other support work is both online and in-person. Your role will be crucial in helping students succeed in their certification and careers.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement and adapt the ELL curriculum for the Nursing Assistant Training course, including updating unit tests, final exams, lesson plans and written evaluations.
- This position involves a balanced role with 60% dedicated to teaching, tutoring, and preparation, and 40% to administrative duties such as data management, compliance with state grants, and scheduling.
- Support nurse instructors by delivering instructional lessons, administering TABE tests, and utilizing platforms like Google Classroom to enhance student learning.
- Schedule consists of two to three days per week of synchronous teaching, taught remotely, and administrative duties from the office.
- Provide targeted assistance to students with communication and pronunciation, offering additional tutoring as needed to ensure their success.
- Adapt the curriculum and homework and update and improve unit tests and final tests
- Manage student admissions by proctoring entrance tests, assessing candidate readiness, and organizing graduation ceremonies.
- Oversee arrangements for the Minnesota NAR certification exam, including registration, re-testing, and accompanying students to the exam.
- Conduct follow-up calls with students at three and 12 months post-employment and maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Collaborate with staff in weekly meetings, contributing to policy development, program organization, and the implementation of new initiatives.
- Communicate daily with registered nurse instructor about scheduling, as well as about academic, attendance, and behavioral issues of students.
- Maintain student records and files that include confidential information.
Experience and Qualifications
- B.A. or M.A. in English Language Learning (ELL) or related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years teaching experience, preferred with adult English language learners.
- Comfortable teaching vocabulary and key concepts related to human body systems and personal cares for senior residents.
- Willingness and ability to learn the Minnesota state NAR curriculum.
- Committed to values of team teaching in NAR classroom setting.
- Experienced in promoting an interactive classroom remotely with an emphasis on student participation.
- Respectful of persons from diverse cultures; understands different learning models.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team and to utilize creative problem-solving skills.
- Flexible with modifying job responsibilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
