Front Desk Assistant

The Front Desk is the first stop for all clients who come to the Institute. Front Desk Assistants provide a welcoming environment for our clients, and support our Immigration Services team with a variety of tasks.

Candidate Profile:

  • Interested in working with immigrant and refugee populations
  • Self-motivated, organized, and patient
  • Comfortable talking with limited English proficient clients, primarily over the telephone 
  • Typing and computer skills are necessary
  • Answer basic immigration questions, primarily over the telephone

Primary Duties Include:

  • Greet and welcome clients to the Institute
  • Help clients make appointments for Institute services
  • Answer basic immigration questions
  • Assist receptionist with clerical duties
  • Take passport and immigration photos
  • Distribute immigration applications
  • Use Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft programs to enter data
  • Assist with bulk mail projects
  • Training provided by Institute staff

Time Commitment:

  • Minimum 3 hours/week for 4 months
  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, 9 a.m. to noon
