Statement on 2024 Presidential Election
Institute Statement on 2024 Election Results
November 6, 2024 ─ The International Institute of Minnesota has welcomed refugees and immigrants for over 100 years. We have witnessed many policy changes during the last century, and we know how to respond quickly to provide the best services for our clients.
With news of the 2024 presidential election results, the International Institute of Minnesota reaffirms its commitment to serving New Americans so they can build new lives, secure employment to support their families, and contribute to Minnesota’s success.
The urgency of our work has only grown.
The Institute takes seriously the proposed changes to immigration policy that President-Elect Trump pledged during his campaign. We are listening, paying attention and preparing for what those changes could be and how they will impact immigrants.
We would like to remind our clients and the immigrant community that the Institute is a trusted resource, no matter how U.S. immigration policy may change. We encourage the community to stay informed by trustworthy sources like immigration professionals and Institute staff.
“The Institute upholds the deeply held American values that immigrants and refugees mirror with each new arrival: hard work, and devotion to family and community,” said Jane Graupman, Executive Director of the International Institute of Minnesota. “We also know that New Americans are vital to growing and stabilizing Minnesota’s economy, and we will continue strengthening our successful workforce development and employment programs.”
Donations to the Institute help us respond rapidly during times of uncertainty. The International Institute of Minnesota is grateful for your support in standing with New Americans so they can find safety, stability and success. Our critical work will remain possible because of your generosity.
