Magaly Ruiz Barrios

Immigration Intake Specialist

Magaly Ruiz Barrios is dedicated to advocating for immigrant communities and promoting equitable opportunities for all. As the daughter of immigrants, she brings a deep understanding of the challenges involved in navigating the immigration system and building a sense of belonging.

She earned her degree in Sociology of Law and Communication Studies from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and gained experience through internships at the Metropolitan Council, focusing on research and community engagement, and at the Office of Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan as an Equity and Accessibility Intern. These experiences strengthened her commitment to advancing equity and inspired her career in immigration legal services.

At the International Institute of Minnesota, Magaly looks forward to making a meaningful impact in the lives of New Americans while continuing to grow in the immigration legal field.
