Banchiliyew known as Banchi, joined the International Institute of Minnesota as a Housing Navigator with the Anti-Trafficking team in January 2026. She is committed to helping survivors secure safe, stable housing and rebuild their lives with dignity. She is proud to support the Institute’s mission of empowering New Americans and strengthening communities through compassionate, person-centered service.
Banchi brings over a decade of experience managing complex public health and humanitarian programs, including refugee services with UNICEF across multiple countries. Her work has focused on strengthening service delivery systems, leading multidisciplinary teams, and supporting vulnerable populations through culturally responsive, trauma-informed approaches. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a Master of Science in Tropical and Infectious Diseases from Addis Ababa University.
Banchi believes that safe housing is the foundation for healing, independence, and long-term stability, and she is dedicated to creating pathways toward lasting self-sufficiency for the individuals and families she serves.
