Immigration Services Volunteer / Intern

Position Description
The Immigration Services Volunteer / Intern will play a vital role in supporting our immigration legal services team by working closely with refugees and asylees to apply for permanent residency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with clients that are establishing a new home in the United States. Your work will directly support immigrant clients navigating complex legal processes, helping ensure timely and accurate case management.
Estimated hours/week:
Minimum of 15 hours/week through May 2026

- Assist refugee and asylee clients to apply for permanent residency
- Maintain contact with clients via telephone, text, email or in writing to support clients during their immigration process
- Respond to client questions related to their application for U.S. residency
- Input case-related information into client databases and upload documents
- Complete immigration-related research
- Very comfortable working on a computer and experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong interest in learning about refugee and asylee communities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Experience working or volunteering in a cross-cultural environment
- Patient and supportive with limited English speakers
- Minimum of 15 hours/week through May 2026
- Monday – Friday, between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Training for this position will begin upon the start of service. Volunteers will receive comprehensive training through a combination of webinars, assigned readings, and hands-on instruction provided directly by program staff. This training is designed to ensure volunteers feel confident and well-prepared in their role.
