How to register for FREE English Classes

In-person class

  • Come to the Institute any Friday between 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Get directions.)
  • No appointment is needed.
  • Please plan to be here for at least two hours, depending on how many students are waiting.
  • You will take an English test and talk about your goals.
  • Our teachers will help you start the best class for your learning level.

Online class

Frequently Asked Questions

Classes at the International Institute of Minnesota are for adults born outside of the United States. You must currently be in Minnesota to take classes. Students of all immigration statuses are welcome.

Our classes and job trainings are free to students thanks to the generous monetary support from our community.

We offer classes for people of all immigration statuses who live in Minnesota.

Yes, you can!

You can take classes at the Institute as soon as you arrive in Minnesota even if you did not receive resettlement support by the Institute.
