Anti-Trafficking Summer Intern
Internship Overview
The Anti-Trafficking Summer Internship provides students with opportunities to learn about sex and labor trafficking in Minnesota, specifically as it affects the immigrant community.
The Anti-Trafficking Summer Intern will work with foreign-born survivors of human trafficking to help them achieve safety and stability. The intern will learn about trauma-informed care, become familiarized with community resources, and learn about the immigration process.
About the Internship

Examples of direct services that the intern may assist with include:
- Provide direct services to survivors of human trafficking
- Completing assessments
- Conducting home visits
- Making legal referrals
- Providing housing support, including relocation assistance, housing setup, and housing safety assessments
- Showing clients how to navigate public transportation
- Making referrals to community resources
- Participate in team meetings and case consults
- Assist with reporting and evaluation
- Comfortable in a cross-cultural environment and communicating with limited-English individuals
- Commitment to the human rights and general welfare of refugees and immigrants
- Commitment to the use of strengths-based client approaches, and to supporting families in their journeys to becoming confident, independent, and self-sufficient.
- Comfortable discussing sensitive topics
- Empathetic and practices healthy boundaries
- Curious, willing to learn, and willing to try new things and ask questions
- Second language ability, particularly Spanish, preferred
- Experience with computers and Microsoft products
- Minimum of 15 hours/week preferred
- Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm (flexible within this schedule)
- This position fulfills requirements for BSW Senior internship or MSW Foundation internship (if applicable)
- The position is unpaid, though we are willing to work with the student if they are able to facilitate the earning of class credit through their internship or if they are interested in applying for compensation through a fellowship program.
