Marketing and Communications Coordinator
About This Position
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator works primarily within the development, communications, and special event functions to manage digital and social media marketing, maintain website content, develop marketing materials and implement brand standards in coordination with the Communications Manager and Development Director. It also helps plan, promote, and coordinate special events and leads outreach event coordination.

Salary range: $52,000 – $57,000, depending on experience

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing Responsibilities (approx. 40%):
- Work with Communications Manager and Development Director to develop and reach annual marketing and communications performance goals.
- Develop and implement a social media strategy with Communications Manager that improves the organization’s reach with target audiences and engages its supporters.
- Apply technical knowledge, including experience working with WordPress, Google Analytics and Google Ads Manager to place digital ads and pull analytics, analyze and compile regular performance reports for:
- iimn.org, a WordPress website
- Mailchimp Email newsletters
- Special event communications
- Social media posts
- Program recruitment and marketing
- Co-lead the implementation of the Institute’s revised brand standards.
- Support Communications Manager in managing contracts and budgets for website and digital marketing vendors.
Communications Responsibilities (approx. 40%):
- Work in coordination with Communications Manager to design, write, edit and maintain content for:
- Social media (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn)
- Monthly e-newsletter
- Website and blog
- Annual report
- Media releases
- Special events
- Support the creation of marketing emails, including writing and editing, creating email lists, designing emails, and reporting on email performance using Mailchimp software.
- Design graphics, create, update, and maintain printed and digital materials and presentations using Canva and Power Point.
- Manage general contact email inbox and respond appropriately.
- Co-manage Hustle mass texting platform and administer training to Institute staff as needed.
Events coordination and outreach (approx. 20%):
- Help plan and implement Breakfast Circles (quarterly) and other special events.
- Lead the coordination of community outreach event participation with other Institute staff.
- Represent the organization and/or recruit internal volunteers to participate in sharing organization marketing content at community outreach events. Manage inventory and storage of outreach and event supplies and signage.
- Write online and print event marketing materials, manage guest lists, print name tags and database report generation and guest data post event.
- Support events with set-up and clean-up before, during and after events.
- Other duties as assigned by development director.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum, a bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, English, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of one to three years’ work experience in marketing or communications.
- Two years of additional work experience in a similar environment would be considered as a substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
- A strong writer and editor.
- Proficient in WordPress and Canva.
- Experienced in digital marketing, retargeting and email campaigns.
- Demonstrated success in engaging followers with Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Effective time manager, able to plan and consistently meet deadlines.
- Sensitive to privacy and professionalism in working with agency clients.
- Proficient in Google Analytics and Google Ads Manager.
- Experience creating video stories and reels for social media.
- Experience in event coordination and support.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment and with individuals with limited English proficiency.
- Knowledge of U.S. immigration policy, human rights, or related topics.

The Institute serves more than 4,000 New Americans annually with new arrival social services to employment placement and advancement through to U.S. Citizenship attainment. Programs are divided into three primary areas: Refugee Services, Education and Employment Training Services, and Immigration Services. The Institute also provides advocacy for policy reforms and supports systems change that improve opportunities for New Americans to move their lives forward.
