Institute Welcomes New Senior Director

April 10, 2023 | The International Institute of Minnesota is thrilled to welcome Micaela Schuneman back as our new Senior Director of Refugee and Immigrant Services. She rejoins the organization after working as Deputy Director at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid. Previously, she served for almost seven years as Director of Refugee Services at the Institute.

“I’m so happy to be back at the Institute,” Micaela said. “As the daughter of an immigrant, I have always felt a strong personal connection to the Institute’s support for our immigrant and refugee communities. I look forward to participating in the next chapter of the Institute’s mission.”

Schuneman’s breadth of experience comes after years of working within the Twin Cities non-profit sector and as an attorney for the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota. She recently participated in LatinoLEAD’s inaugural leadership cohort, Avanzando Líderazgo.

The Institute is proud to add Micaela’s expertise and leadership to our dedicated, skilled Refugee and Immigration Services teams. Please join us in welcoming Micaela back to the Institute.
