Case Manager, Unaccompanied Children and Anti-Trafficking Programs
About This Position
The Case Manager in this hybrid position will provide comprehensive case management services to clients in our Unaccompanied Children (UC) and Anti-Trafficking (AT) programs. The UC program serves foreign-born youth under the age of 18 who are being released from Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) custody into the care of family members or friends that have agreed to sponsor them. The case manager will assess sponsor homes for safety and fitness and will provide direct services to the youth after they have reunited with the sponsor to assist with the transition into the community. The AT program provides services to foreign-born survivors of sex and labor trafficking of all ages. The case manager will provide trauma-informed case management and connect survivors to community resources including immigration and civil attorneys, housing, healthcare, federal and state law enforcement, and English classes.

Salary range: $50,000-$54,0000 (depending on experience)

Primary Responsibilities:
Unaccompanied Children Program
- Provide trauma-informed direct services to unaccompanied immigrant children after release from ORR shelters. This includes assessment, safety planning, resource coordination, transportation, and providing informal emotional support
- Facilitate referrals for youth and their sponsors/families to resources such as housing, legal services, food banks, medical and dental clinics, and mental health services
- Complete home studies to assess the safety and fitness of potential sponsors for unaccompanied children
- Travel throughout Minnesota to meet with unaccompanied children and their sponsors
Anti-Trafficking
- Provide direct services to foreign-born survivors of human trafficking; services include but are not limited to eligibility screening, safety and needs assessment, case management, transportation, assistance with housing, food, and referrals to other community resources
- Identify client strengths, collaboratively set goals, and help clients connect with resources to support them to accomplish their goals
- Manage funds allotted per client and maintain/submit required documentation
General
- Participate in the maintenance and development of the programs through regular coordinator calls, service calls, monthly reports, training, and community outreach
- Maintain organized files and timely, detailed case notes and client reports. Enter client information into program database(s)
- Participate in bimonthly team meetings, monthly department meetings, and quarterly all staff meetings
- Follow all Institute privacy and safety protocols
Experience and Qualifications
- Commitment to the human rights and general welfare of refugees and immigrants
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, behavioral science, human services, or related field
- Capable of working in a fast-paced multicultural office environment, take initiative, and be able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments
- Knowledge of the dynamics of trauma and trauma-informed care
- Knowledge of different systems (criminal justice system, immigration and refugee systems, health and human services) and how systems impact immigrant crime victims
- Experience with direct client services (i.e. case management or advocacy)
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including law enforcement, immigration legal service providers, and mental health professionals
- Experience in victim services, youth services, and/or child welfare preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, create an organized schedule, and maintain organized case files and documentation
- Strong ability to respond to and manage crisis situations with clients
- Must have valid driver’s license, insurance, and own car and be willing to transport clients

- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying
