Free Job Training for New Americans
The 6-week Office Assistant Class helps students improve their English, learn how to work in an office or get ready for a Microsoft Office course to earn a certificate.
Class is in-person at the International Institute of Minnesota (1694 Como Avenue, St. Paul MN). Bus passes or gas cards are available. Contact us for transportation help.

You must come to an in-person intake session to register for class.

Arrive between 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Get directions.)
No appointment is needed.
Please plan to be here for at least two hours, depending on how many students are waiting. During your visit, you will take an English test and talk about your goals. Our teachers will help you start the best class for your learning level.

Who Can Take Classes?
To qualify for the Office Assistant Class, you must:
- Born outside the U.S
- Pass English Assessment
- Pass Digital Literacy Assessment
- Ability to attend all class sessions
About This Class
Our Office Assistant Class is a 6-week course that helps students learn skills to work as an office assistant.
Students will learn:
- Important office words
- How offices work in the U.S.
- How to communicate in an office
- How to manage emails, schedule appointments, and use office equipment
All while practicing English!

No, you do not need a work permit to begin job training. However, we cannot help you apply for a job until you have work authorization and a social security card.
Yes, you must live in Minnesota to attend our class.
Class is free.
We cannot provide childcare to attend our training.

The closest bus stops are Stop #870 or Stop #929 on Como Ave. Other nearby bus stops are on Snelling Ave. and include Stop Numbers 18523, 931, 866, or 56119. From these bus stops, you will have a 5-10 minute walk to the International Institute of Minnesota.
