Abebe Dashew

Refugee Services Program Manager

Abebe Dashew has a background in law but has returned to working with newly arrived immigrants and refugees to provide crucial support and navigate challenging transitions. As the child of refugees from Ethiopia, Abebe understands the hurdles immigrants face both in the short and long term. He is familiar with the various facets of the immigration process, and work that the Institute does resonates deeply with his passion to help the immigrant population.

Abebe received his Juris Doctor from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and, prior to that, his Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Most recently, he worked at a legal tech company, where he helped highlight impactful values of the company’s legal research platform to the legal community.
