Employment Assistant Volunteer

Position Description

This volunteer will collaborate with our Employment Navigator to support clients from our Hospitality Job Training program (housekeeping, dietary aide, and customer service) in securing employment. This role includes guiding individuals through job search strategies, employment resources, and career opportunities while providing both individualized support and group guidance to job seekers.

4 hours

Worksite:
Onsite at the International Institute of Minnesota, 1694 Como Ave Saint Paul MN 55108

 

Due to limited positions and changes in programming as a result of federal policy, it can take up to three months from applying to placement.  Thank you for your understanding and patience!

  • Assist clients with resume building and editing.
  • Provide job search guidance, including online job application assistance.
  • Conduct mock interviews and offer constructive feedback.

  • Experience or interest in career development or coaching.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and cultural competency when working with diverse populations.
  • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and job search platforms.

  • Every other Tuesday (4 hours per month)
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Minimum three-month commitment encouraged
  • This position starts on February 18th, 2025
