Special Events Volunteer

Position Description

This position supports English and Entrepreneurship class celebrations and graduations.  As a Special Event Volunteer, you’ll contribute to a positive and welcoming environment and assist with various tasks to help ensure the event runs smoothly.

3-4 hours

More Information

  • Set up tables and chairs
  • Help with decorations and signage
  • Greet guests as they arrive and direct them where to go
  • Interact with attendees
  • Serve food and drinks and answer questions in buffet line
  • Assist with clean up after event concludes (sweep floors, wipe tables and put away, take trash to dumpster, wash and put away dishes)

  • Enthusiasm
  • Flexibility
  • Desire to listen, talk, and learn with New Americans
  • Comfortable communicating with Institute staff to find resources

Roughly 7-8 events held per year

  • Volunteer shifts are 3-4 hours

Brief orientation will be provided at the beginning of the event.

A great way to learn more about IIMN programs, interact with New Americans and staff.
